Reasons to Get Braces

There are several reasons to get braces that we will cover. One of the primary reasons is to give you a perfect smile.

Some people look at celebrities and think that all of them just got lucky and were born with perfect teeth. That is not the case! Yes, some people are blessed with great teeth from the start, but that is not the case for everyone.

Some of your favorite celebrities have had to get braces at one point or another to look as good as they do. Here are some examples of celebrities who had orthodontic treatment.

Celebrities Who Have Had Braces

  • Emma Stone – Emma has been very open in past interviews about her journey with braces. As a child, she had braces for seven years! We promise you that your braces will not take seven years to correct your teeth. By her admission, it took so long because she did not follow her orthodontist’s instructions. Regardless of how long it took, she now has a beautiful smile.
  • Justin Bieber – Justin got Invisalign when he was 16 years old. As a celebrity, Justin wanted a solution that fit his lifestyle. Based on his custom treatment plan, his orthodontist used a treatment of Invisalign, and he said it was a great experience!
  • Serena Williams – Serena is a tennis superstar who has won 23 Grand Slam titles. Serena also got started on Invisalign treatment when she was 16 years old, and now her smile is just as incredible as her skills on the court.

Countless other celebrities have gone through orthodontic treatment to get their perfect smiles. Not only do they look fantastic, but there are health benefits to having straight teeth too.

How Braces Help

Aside from the cosmetic aspect, braces improve the overall health of your body. Here are some of the health benefits of going through the effort to straighten your teeth.

One of the most significant long-term health benefits of wearing braces is preventing gum disease.

Gum disease is an infection of the soft tissues which surround your teeth. Over 50% of Americans have some variation of this infection. It can be categorized as gingivitis or more severe periodontal disease.

When someone has crooked or misaligned teeth, it is easy for plaque and food particles to become trapped between the teeth.

This allows bacteria to multiply over time, eventually infecting the gums. Wearing braces evens the teeth, making them easier to clean with a regular toothbrush and floss. This means fewer particles become trapped, and you can remove bacteria before it causes gum disease.

Something that goes hand-in-hand with that is less tooth decay. Cleaner teeth mean fewer bacteria to eat away at your enamel, so you get fewer cavities.

Another reason to get braces is to help with headaches or neck pain. When you have straight teeth, there is even pressure on your jawbone structure when you bite down.

When you have uneven or overcrowded teeth, it creates points where there is much more pressure on your jaw than there should be.

The uneven pressure can cause your jaw to become misaligned and create many problems, such as headaches and neck pain.

Final Words

Taking care of your body is an important step toward leading a healthy and productive life. Really the only reason to get braces is because you want them. You want to look your best and be the healthiest you can be.
